FISHING TIPS
- Water Type
- Fast moving water
- Nymph
- Nymphs move from their fast water habitat to adjacent slower shallows. A weighted nymph fished on the bottom with motion is effective until the hatch begins. During the hatch, use an unweighted nymph fished in the surface film.
- Emerger
- Fish in the surface film during early hatch.
- Dun
- As with vicarium, fuscum duns float long distances trying awkwardly to get airborne. Flyfishers should locate feeding trout and float their imitation over the feeding station in the attitude of naturals.
- Spinner
- The gathering of male spinners at treetop level gives fly fishers time to prepare for the subsequent spinner fall. Choose a position near fast water and note the best targets as much of the spinner fall occurs after dark. Fish a full spent fly dead drift.
