Adult Description
Body color: cinnamon-light brown Wings: Grayish brown with light tan speckling Legs: cinnamon Antenna: tan with dark rings.
Emerging Habits
Drifts for long distance both subsurface and in the surface film removing their shucks.
Oviposting Habits
Repeatedly dips to the surface and/or crawls underwater to deposit eggs. This activity occurs all day but heaviest in evening and mornings.
Fly Patterns
As net spinners, the larval pattern is a good bet most anywhere that this species occurs. During emergence, the trout feed on the pupae drifting along the bottom and in the surface film. Oviposting females may be imitated by wet flies returning to deposit eggs subsurface. Spent patterns for spinner fall.
