FISHING TIPS
Water Type
Fast water, rapids and runs
Nymph
Nymphs move from their fast water habitat to adjacent slower shallows. A weighted nymph fished on the bottom with motion is effective until the hatch begins. During the hatch, use an un weighted nymph fished in the surface film.
Emerger
Fish in the surface film during early hatch.
Dun
These heavy mayflies float on the surface for long distances struggling to get airborne. The presentation should mimic this behavior. Choose an advantageous route to wade that allows casting to all parts of the stream including the very shallow water.
Spinner
Spinner activity occurs before dusk. Hackled and full spent patterns work very well.
